Crunch Time

… is the title of my latest tune & recording:

Stream

MP3

I would call this a fusion tune. It is arranged for guitar/keys/bass/drums quartet. As I typically do with these arrangements, I play the guitar & bass tracks and use loops and programming for the keys and drum tracks.

I’d be interested in feedback with respect to how well this works. There are some meter changes — the first appearance of this is in the phrase that starts at 0:45.  I’m not always sure that the effect isn’t a bit too jarring. The middle third of the recording — starting at about 1:12 — shifts to  double-time swing. This is where the solos occur. Again, I’m not positive the change in to and out of this middle section are smooth enough.
