Name Now One Man
…is the name of my latest composition and recording.
Not sure whether this is more fusion or smooth jazz, but it does utilize the singing rock guitar tone as opposed to the straight-ahead archtop sound.
Otherwise my basic guitar, bass, keys & drums format continues.
This one might even be a little bit catchy…
Take a Seat
This is a revision to a tune I originally posted in October of 2009. The feel and basic format of the revised version is the same. The new things are:
- Used a different sounding drum kit
- Re-did the guitar part from scratch
- Added a subtle but important (I think) organ part
The tune and arrangement is an attempt to capture some of the vibe of 60’s funk; I think the organ part helps there.
(the original version of the tune is still accessible from the original post)
Drawn Inward
This semester has been a busy one so far, leaving me with quite a bit less time for music. So it has been a month since I’ve been able to squeeze in enough time to compose and record. Fortunately when I found some time, the results came together fairly quickly.
This is an all-new tune, called “Drawn Inward”. There isn’t anything particularly remarkable about it — it’s pretty much a straight-down-the-middle jazz-rock fusion number. If there’s anything unusual, it is that there are some pretty unconventional harmonic changes.
The format is guitar, keys, bass and drums. As usual, I played the guitar and bass parts and programmed the others. The guitar is my Anderson Cobra. Structurally, the song is a conventional 32-bar song form (AABA) with a 4-bar intro/interlude.
