Incheon Waterway” ( 인천 수로 )

“Incheon Waterway” ( 인천 수로 ) is an original instrumental intended to be similar to the style of the material the Ventures wrote and recorded in the early 1970s primarily for the Japanese market. The Ventures were enormously popular in Japan in the 1960s and 70s, outselling all other foreign artists there, including the Beatles.

Cheap Phil is Back

“Cheap Phil is Back” is an original instrumental intended to evoke the feel of an early 1960s song used to “fill out” a Ventures album or serve as a “B-side”. Both the Ventures and Shadows discographies are full of tracks like this. In many, many cases, I actually prefer these tracks to the “featured” ones. By definition, they must be fairly simple tunes and use only the base group with no additional instruments or production.

In the Time It Takes to See

“In the Time It Takes to See” is an original instrumental in a jazz-fusion style. Along with more mellow smooth-jazz, this type of music was my main focus 10 – 15 years ago, and I do like to revisit from time-to-time. One might also observe that I now spend most of my time doing music in 1960s styles, so I might want to modernize a bit on occasion. However, I wouldn’t want to be *too* contemporary, so I only fast forward a couple of decades to the 1980s.
