“Fuzz Butt” is an original instrumental intended to sound like something the Ventures might have recored in the mid-1960s. Of course, it features a “fuzz-tone”.
“Shiver in the Dark” is an original instrumental intended to sound like something the Shadows might have written and recorded in the 1980s after they became aware of the work of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits.
“Spirits of Dongdaemun” ( 동대문의 영혼 ) is an original instrumental intended to be similar to the style of the material the Ventures wrote and recorded in the early 1970s primarily for the Japanese market. The Ventures were enormously popular in Japan in the 1960s and 70s, outselling all other foreign artists there, including the Beatles.
“Mesa Verde” is an original instrumental intended to sound similar to something the Shadows might have recorded in the early to mid 1960s. In particular it is intended to evoke the style of the Shadows playing a Jerry Lordan composition with the addition of the Norrie Paramor Strings. Like “Atlantis”, “Mesa verde” is a famous “lost city”. With more than 5,000 sites, including 600 cliff dwellings, it is the largest archaeological preserve in the United States. Mesa Verde (Spanish for “green table”) is best known for structures such as Cliff Palace, thought to be the largest cliff dwelling in North America.
